Ian Defley tamed the Climbs of Pinchor to break the Dodge cycling team out of its traditional mid season slump. A year that had started so promisingly with key results in the early classics and a commendable finish in the first ever Zyte Division tour had somewhat pettered out in the last month.
It was as thought the bedding in period had ended and the team was starting to come to terms with the reality that is Division 2 racing. While form seemed to have suddenly deserted Defley after his exertions at the Volta ao Porto, his teammates failed to step up as the team suffered a barren spell.
All was forgotten however in the American mountains as the one time Australian number 1 outclimbed a strong field that featured the likes of Il Grillo's climbing supermo Frank van Galen and young Gradient Levellers upstart Yasunari Yamauchi.
While the highly touted Japanese rider once again flattered to deceive with a toothless showing, van Galen was an entirely different matter. Matching Defley almost effortlessly as the rest of the field dropped away, it was as though the two were having a private duel at the front throughout.
Even though Team Dinmore's Ramiro Monteros threatened to spoil the party with a late charge, Defley held on relatively comfortably to secure his third win of the season and pass the AU$100,000 mark in winnings this season.

Yeah didn't do all too well in Div 1 the last time either. I'm using Defley sparingly though so I'm not really jumping up the standings. Still not maxed and I'm crossing my fingers.
yes shiable has improved, but he still can't touch Defley, well maybe his back wheel and he maxed out last week :(.
Since Volta, Defley has been kicking arse, although we will be both promoted soon and have to fight it out for 100th spot:S (I struggled for top 20, last time in division 1)
Haha couldn't you wait for me to write a new press release? :) But then again, Shiable beat Defley silly the last time round, so it's payback. Hasn't Shiable improved since the Volta?
Now look hear, can you please stop beating me.
Shiable is getting a Defley complex :S
